Looking for a new bow. I have shot both Maxxis and Z7. Both are awesome and I am really torn. I was wondering if anyone had any insight or opinions on either one. Thanks.

I shoot both also. The Z7 did not impress me at all. The new Hoyt Maxxis really made me very happy the times I have shoot it. Now I own the Maxxis 31 and 35. I bought both HOYT's.

just baught the mathews z7 and it is the quitest bow i have ever shot along with it has some speed. i like the solo cam because you do not have to time the cams, like you do with hoyt or other double cams. i have a friend that was a die hard hoyt man, but after he shot my old outback he went and bought the switchback and said he would never go back to hoyt again. its all prefrence thought. what one person likes might not be what another wants. best thing to do is have both bows there and shot them together and see witch one feels more comfortable. i am a mathew man, but i worked at rocky mountain sports in wyoming for 3 years putting bows together and i sold the custamer what he was comfortable with. take the one that feels good to you.

Shot Mathews for 15 years and never had a problem went and bought a Alpha Max last year and fell in love with it until the limb's delaminated while at full draw on a hog. Went to the shop I buy my equipment from and they pulled a Reezen off the wall and all the new stuuf to match and didnt ask for a dime . I have a Z7 on order right now and should be shooting it soon. All companies have their own problems especially with limbs , but when a manufacture sends bows out and 2 months later after their debut the realize they have a issue and dont get them fixed or changed out right away then I have a problem with that company and the products they build .

I was impressed with the Maxxis, but I'm lean toward the Athens Accomplice 34.

I just shot the Maxxis 31 and 35 along with the Z7 again. I am leaning toward the 35. I really liked all 3 but the the 35 kinda chose me. I shot six arrows through each (in sets of 3). I shot 1 inch groups with the 31 and about the same with Z7 but shot a dime size group breaking a nock with the 35.

The Maxxis 35 is a pure shooting machine. For durability, shootability, and accuracy, you just can't beat a Hoyt bow.

Thanks. you think it is worth it to me to shoot the Alpha Max too before I buy?

Sure. I got rid of my 2 AM35's and bought 2 Maxxis 35's. I loved those AM35's. About the only differences between the two are that the Maxxis 35 has a thinner grip, in line rollers, ARC limbs, and the riser is a little different. Same XTR cams as on the AM's. The Maxxis 35 seems to balance and hold just a little better then the AM35 and no felt vibration. I could still feel just the tinyest bit out of my AM's, but you really had to pay attention to feel it. The Maxxis 35 is just a few fps faster then my AM's but not much to be a deal breaker, and that's with using the same #2 cams DL/DW/arrows. So you never know. You just might like the AM better, or, not notice that much of a difference between the AM and Maxxis to justify spending more $$ for the Maxxis. Whichever one you decide on you can't go wrong. Good luck!

Ok, so i got the Maxxis 35 and set it up with:
Ripcord Code Red fall away rest
Montana Black Gold Flashpoint sight
G5 Meta peep
Tight Spot quiver
Fuse 6in Stableizer
Blacks Creek "Bone Collector" wrist sling

Now I can't wait to go shoot it.

I also want to thank everyone for their insight, comments and suggestions.
