I am working on planning a 2010 non guided antelope hunt in Montana. I am thinking about going around the Ekalaka area kinda around the Custer National Forest. Or I am also looking for Private land to hunt on.

Is this a good area for antelope or should I look somewheres else?
I am open to any input!

Nobody??
Yes it is. There is a lot of blm around there. You should get a blm map for there and start looking at areas that look good. The eastern part of the state is covered in antelope.
I will have to get blm maps....... are all blm lands open to the public?
thanks
I was in Montana September 2008 and saw antelope everywhere. I was there for an elk hunting trip. This was my first trip to a western state and absolutely loved it. Can't wait to go back, keeping my fingers crossed I pull a bull tag, for Sept. 2010!!:)
Yes, blm(bureau of land management) is public land. You can camp and hunt on it. Pretty much any kind of recreation you can think of. There are a few regulations that each area has though.
