Would you hunt with a crossbow. I started hunting with a Horton Summit 150 last year. I think i am sold. Just another weapon to put the smack down on game. If it be a Deer, Turkey, Groundhog, Or Bullfrog it will get the job done.

NEVER , I bow hunt for alot of reason not just to kill more animals, the time and pratice it takes to get good enough to hunt with a bow, if I could not hunt with a bow I would not hunt, because I am a bowhunter.

Louisiana just changed the law last year so that everyone can use one during archery season. Not sure I agree, but it will get more people in the woods, which we desperatly need. I want knock anyone's choice, as long as they hunt legal and ethically. As for my self, I'm heading the opposite way, At the moment I'm looking at recurves, I think I want more of the challange and I love hunting, whether I kill or not. The kill is just a bonus.

There are a lot of reasons to use a cross-bow. Shoulder injuries, amputations, illness. It is a little easier to learn, ranges are about the same. I think that it is OK. Do you approve of baiting. What is baiting. Putting out corn or growing a food plot. Both are the same. I personally like compound bows, but when they first came out, the same questions came up. Long Bow is traditional. This will ruin the sport. It has only made it better. Some people could not draw and hold a long bow, but could a compound with appropriate let off. Should we use sites or free style. Should we use releases or fingers. Everyone needs to decide how they want to hunt and how primative. Good luck.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but several points have been brought up in this one. I feel that as long as someone hunts legally and ethically, it should be his choice as to how he hunts. Noone else in the hunting world should condemn him. We should all unite and stand together. It is things like this that cause fights among us, when we instead should be uniting together. The anti hunters love it when we fuss among our selves. It just gives them more ammo. Please don't look at your fellow hunter in the wrong way if he doesn't do things the way you think everyone should. Thank God that you have the right to hunt and let him hunt his way. Support each other in anyway you can. We should all be united to protect the rights we have in hunting and support the troops that are protecting that right now overseas.

i believe a person should be able to hunt with their weapon of choice. as long as its legal and ethical.i too hunt with a crossbow a horton express sl175 as well as shotguns,22 rifle.me being from ohio a 22rifle is the biggest rifle the law will allow. my 16yr. old is hunting with me this spring for his first turkey and he ll be hunting with my crossbow. he will do the shooting and i will do the calling.it doesnt matter what you hunt with just as long as you hunt. good luck and enjoy.

Create a season for them like they have for muzzleloaders. See how it goes from there, will it bring more hunters into the woods? Don't know the answers, but if we get more people involved in hunting, it can only help protect our rights.

kenny-bayou hunter said it!!!! no I would not hunt with a crossbow, because I love the challenges of bow hunting, but I support anyone who wants to do it as long as its legal and ethical.....

I would have to say no for now. I have no problem with someone who has some sort of injury using one.Around here where I live I think it will only promote more problems with poaching. I see how accurate they are and in my oppinion not enough guys are willing to put in the time to be that proficient with archery equip. Much easier to look through a scope and pull trigger. They are planning a season here I believe next year, I only hope it is a seperate season not during bow season, because bow it is not. Time will tell but for now I think there are to many cons vs pros.

I'm with JKaz and Mike Foust. It's just another style of what we are all passionate about, HUNTING! As long as it is legal and ethical I support 100%. We all know that this day and age we need as many people as possible supporting our hunting life style.
Ricky,
sounds like fun, enjoy that crossbow.

Yes I would, I love my Mathews and I would rather use it! However I love the hunt, and if I could no longer pull my bow due to a disability or injury I would revert to a crossbow in a minute. Some of us have been shooting a bow for a while, some started with longbows or recurves, and progressed into compounds. Some stayed traditional and some are hy-tech. This does not mean we are not all hunters and that we are somehow cheating by using a crossbow. I would not be one who would condemn anyone who chooses a crossbow as it is a wonderful piece of engineering and has been utilized by man for many years. So for now I will stick to my Mathews and say more power to those who are traditional and the same goes for the crossbow folks. As far as creating a special season for them, puts additional undue work on the already limited resource of wildlife agencies. If you do that I think it will cause the already high license fees to go up even more and it will limit the time that the Bow Hunters will be allowed afield as they will have to take from us to give to them. Just let the crossbows hunt during archery season and the muzzle loaders and archery hunters hunt during rifle season if that is their choice of equipment to pursue their passion. If we as hunters start bickering amongst ourselves about this then we are divided, Like Ben Franklin Said, " WE MUST ALL HANG TOGETHER, or WE SHALL ALL HANG SEPARATELY". We need to be a UNITED FRONT against the Anti's or we will be among the non-hunters because there will be NO HUNTING PERIOD.
