I shoot the Hoyt Razortec, I dont get into having to have a new bow every year. As long as you are confident and know your limits, then that bow is for you!!
IF you have a budget of $3000 I would go with the PD 170 for the low light you get for hunting. You can get one right now for about 1750-2200. Good luck but do some research, PD 170 is an upgrade to the GL2

Had quite a few growing up here in Texas but didn't meet any when I got to the college level. When I was a kid all the male teachers and coaches came to the parking lot in deer season to look at the guns on the rifle racks in the Pick Ups now days it must be tough for guys like you to mention the word hunting at the halls of academia!
