We graduated from GL-2's and moved to Canon XH-A1. In our opinion the best HDV camera out there. We like the Sony HDR-FX1, too, but that 20x lens is hard to beat.

Best of the West Productions is a video production company that started in 2003. It began with interests in long range hunting using a Remington Sendero and Leupold scope and later the Gunwerks/Huskemaw rifle system with Berger Hunting Bullets. Along with a Pro Staff of expert shooters, the shows have guest hunters, most from PBR and PRCA, that demonstrate the effectiveness of this shooting system at extreme ranges on North American big game. Founder/Producer Jack Peterson has been doing outdoor video since 1999 and has had television programs on Versus, Pursuit, MAN, MEN, Sportsman Channel and The Outdoor Channel.

Finishing Editor Brandon Wasserburger is an award winning documentary filmmaker and storytelling has always been his focal point. He graduated from Central Washington University's Film and Video Program. His passion has been to bring as many cinematic elements as possible to The Best of the West; in order to, properly represent the show's uniqueness among outdoor programing. He was brought on to The Best of the West's Post Production team as an Editor and Visual FX Artist in 2008.

Director of Photography Nate Robertson graduated with honors from Utah Valley University Nate traveled the world filming for television programs that vary in range from outdoor adventure to business reality. Only after returning to his home town and BOTW headquarters did he join the production team of The Best of the West. Nate's work has aired on The Outdoor Channel, ESPN, Versus, The Sportsman Channel, PBS, The Pursuit Network, Wild TV, VH1 and other channels. Nate now oversees the physical production of The Best of the West and makes considerable contributions in post production as a Story Editor.

Gary Baughman assists the production team of Best of the West as a special segment editor, visual effects designer and 3D compositor. His background in videography has been in weddings and events. He also contributes to website design and commercial spots.

what happened to hunting? im from the same area as you and i like to get as close as i can to kill some thing . you still have to gut it and drag it i dont understand what fun there is in shooting 1200 yrds . i see a lots more chance in wounding an animal at long range. it just doesnt seem like you even like to hunt when your not giving the animal a chance to know your in the area. i think your bringing in to much sceince into hunting when you have to test the wind before you shoot just another reason they should make it 30-30 style hunting.
